Spoken State transforms national flags into fields of language.

Each work embeds a pivotal historical speech within the structure of a country’s flag — words that shaped identity, resistance, or collective aspiration. The flag becomes both surface and container: colour as territory, text as voice.

By overlaying rhetoric onto national geometry, the series questions how states are formed — through language, sacrifice, myth, and memory. The works are executed in acrylic on aluminium and archival pigment print, reinforcing permanence while exposing fragility within national narratives.

These are not flags of authority; they are flags of speech.
